Requests for Comments on the Draft Strategy for Protecting and Restoring the Chesapeake Bay

The Legislative Committee is soliciting comments concerning the Draft Strategy for Protecting and Restoring the Chesapeake Bay. The Draft Strategy, required by Executive Order 13508 on Chesapeake Bay Protection and Restoration, focuses on three actions: (1) Restoring Clean Water; (2) Conserving Treasured Places and Restoring Habitats, Fish, and Wildlife; and (3) Adapting to the Impacts of Climate Change. The Draft Strategy could impose new stormwater management requirements, fees on new development, additional federal regulatory oversight on state and local permitting, and new forest conservation and land preservation efforts. The Draft Strategy was released on November 9th. Public comment may be submitted until January 8, 2010. The NAIOP Legislative Committee intends to submit comments prior to the deadline, and asks that interested members provide comments no later than January 4th.
