Community Outreach

As part of the Maryland/DC NAIOP’s Community Outreach Program our Chapter is pleased to support the mission of the Earth Conservation Corps.

The Earth Conservation Corps. (ECC) is a non-profit organization that works with at risk youth teaching  them life skills within the framework of conservation and the restoration of Washington, DC’s Anacostia River.  Many of these young adults have grown up in neighborhoods bordering the Anacostia, historically one of the most polluted waterways in the United States.  Corps members help clean up the river, protect endangered wildlife and conduct outreach and environmental education programs.  Members earn stipends and AmeriCorps scholarships, they can also qualify for health insurance and childcare benefits.  The ECC is proud that 85% of it’s graduates move on to higher education or into the workplace.

“As Corps members improve their lives they rebuild the environmental, social and economic health of their communities.”

Maryland/DC NAIOP together with major support from The JBG Companies and Clark Construction Group, LLC has made significant contributions to support the work of the  ECC.  If you and/or your organization are interested in supporting this worthwhile and highly successful organization we encourage you to visit the ECC website and make a donation.
